[Though it's late at night, Monts lays on her futon with her window open so that the vivid neon lights from the bars and clubs peek through creating a myriad of rainbow patterns across the floor and the walls of her tiny room. Laying on her back, she perks up when she sees Gojyo's long response.
Her fingers tap her phone screen rapidly; whether they were face to face or at a distance, talking to him felt so natural.]
Seems pretty cool From what you were able to describe to me, there are some elements I would consider "modern" from my world, but the way your world operates is still a far cry from what I'm used to. We have "Chinatowns" in various places and that's just in the country I live in.
As for music in my world... Well. There are definitely a lot of genres that can be defined by era, vibe, instruments, culture, etc. Definitely more complex than I'm ready to type out.
I was making some lists of music for myself And I felt like sharing since a lot of what I'm familiar with, I was able to find through Jigoku's network for us Neat, huh?
[Gojyo had still been out and about, the night-owl he was. The cold bite of the night air seemed not to bother him too much as he leaned his back against the hard brick of the district convenience store. The noises of various other patrons roaming the streets and enjoying their nights barely distract him as he types back upon his phone with a smirk.
He couldn't lie. When it came to Monts, it was just fun to talk.]
Pretty weird, right? With all the worlds that different people come from, certain things can be crazy similar while other parts can be different. Not going to lie, it still feels weird to me knowing that there are worlds out there where youkai don't exist.
[Jigoku-Cho was quite similar to his world in many ways. More lively, surprisingly less dangerous, and brighter and louder for sure. But it was similar. He was just about to type up a passing question about whatever the hell "China-Town" was supposed to be when something else caught his attention instead.]
Wait. Are you saying you found music from your world in this one?
Well, since there's internet here And a lot of music that gets produced ends up on the internet where I'm from, I figured it wasn't a big stretch to find some remnants.
I mean, just cause both places invented the internet doesn't mean that they'd both end up producing the same people with the same bands and music, right?
But then again, Japan seems to be a relatively big universal constant.
Man, all this thought on what can and can't exist between worlds hurts my head.
[Maybe he should stop thinking about it so hard and spend more time just going along with it.]
Well, the way my boss lady in my side of the woods put is that Sometimes different worlds aren't so much their own bubbles as they are part of a wave. Ebbing and flowing Always changing, crossing over in ways we aren't aware of Like a drop in the ocean that reflects even more stars in the skies above.
Okay, I added that last part But that's how I've started to see it ever since I started working at that cafe.
[She's missing the Midnight Grind again. Back to the music.]
I don't know if you'd like it But there's this track that makes me think of home the most Is it okay if I share?
Damn. That's romantic as fuck. You should get that published or copyrighted or some shit. Bet you'd make quite a name for yourself writing such sweet verses.
But sure. I'll give it a listen. Maybe we can do a music trade. ♥
Anyway, here's the song. It's a stylized remix, but I think it might at least be interesting
[It makes her think of slow traffic, sunsets, and lazy evenings. A drag of a cigarette, some sort of liquor with ice, melting and sweating down the side of a glass.]
And this one is a conventional classic. ou might like it better.
["But listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness."
The poetry in the lyrics was simple, sure and yet...]
Romantic huh? I think sensual is a more fitting term. But then again, I guess I'm not the best at gauging a feeling on those things.
I guess for me it's the type of stuff you can settle back in a quiet corner and enjoy a beer and a good smoke as you zone out. That's the stuff I like.
Black Panther is something more from my own side of the world that's pretty good too.
[And truthfully far more romantic to him than the other two. But he was never going to say that out loud.]
[Monts will add it to her playlist. It's good to mix things up every once and a while.]
And you? Not good at gauging romance? Could have fooled me 😋
[But to a certain extent she does get that he is "that kind of guy."]
Compared to you though, I suppose I've grown into a sappy and sentimental person. As someone said before "Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs."
Tell me you've never been in a commitment committed without telling me you've never been in a commitment 8) Well, not that my track record is good at that or anything.
[At least she sounds playful about it and not overly serious. Casually moving on, she shares another song.]
What do you think of this song? It reminded me of you, not sure why 😊😊😊
Is that so? Huh, I guess I never thought about how much lack of touch can mess with other parts of you.
[It was still strange to consider. Gojyo, someone who was so dependent upon any form of physical feeling, couldn't imagine what it must have been like to live life without it. He had so many questions and wanted to know more, but at the same time, he knew better than to push.
Whatever Monts wanted him to know, she would tell him with time.]
Well, I guess I should stop keeping you hanging, huh? Sleep well, all right? Make sure to have lots and looots of sweet dreams. ♥
Probably going to go back to my trouble-making ways in the meantime.

[Case in point, he guesses.]

Ahah, not bad, not bad.
Yeah for me I like a lot of foreign rock. The type of stuff you'd usually find playing at a good dive bar.
Something more like this?
Since I travel a lot it makes so pretty good road-music. Also I'm weak for a good guitar riff.
Or course I can do for good mood music too. Something more along the lines of this?
[A not-so-subtle insinuation? Naaaah.]
Raps good too. Though none of that mainstream stuff.

Both are definitely dive bar music. Though I gotta say
That second one is surprisingly romantic.

And, it ain't really like I'm dissing romance. Hell, for some people it's something amazing.
[Or so he hears.]
It just ain't really been my thing I guess. Can't really be a pro in playing the field if I end up getting stuck in one position, right?
[Ah, good old deflection. That should keep the topic nice and short.]

that is more my type of jam for certain.
But man you really gotta call me out like that, huh?
So mean Monts, so mean~
no subject
I admit it, I can be pretty mean.
But hey, you know what they say
Sugar, spice, everything (mostly) nice.
That's what makes me memorable after all.
And as long as you don't forget me, I'm fine with that.
no subject
Sure thing Ms. (Mostly) Nice~
Man, you talk as if it would be easy forget you at all to begin with.
[Which it most certainly wouldn't be.]

But I guess without a sense of pain
It kind of messes with my sense of permanence?
Ah, whatever
I should really be going to sleep now anyway.
